Christian Counseling

Christian Counseling in Louisville and Online Across Kentucky, Indiana, and Florida

If you are looking for Christian counseling in Louisville, Kentucky, or online counseling that honors your faith, you may be seeking more than emotional support. You want sound clinical care from a therapist who understands that your Christian faith influences how you view your life, relationships, decisions, struggles, and hopes for the future.

I offer evidence-based counseling for individuals and couples whose Christian faith is important to them. When requested, faith is meaningfully integrated into counseling in a way that honors and supports your beliefs and values. My goal is to help you grow emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually without sacrificing the quality and depth of clinical care.

My approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, attachment-based therapy, somatic therapy, EMDR, and neuroscience-informed methods. In my work with couples, I integrate the Gottman Method with an understanding of each couple’s unique history, needs, values, and goals.

A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE ON CHRISTIAN COUNSELING

With more than 30 years of clinical experience—including 17 years serving in Southeast Christian Church’s Counseling Ministry—I bring both professional expertise and a deep understanding of how faith and counseling intersect in everyday life.

During my years at Southeast Christian Church, I worked with individuals and couples facing anxiety, stress, grief, marriage difficulties, infidelity, family concerns, spiritual questions, and significant life transitions. This experience gave me a meaningful understanding of both the strength people draw from their faith and the complex emotional and relational concerns that may require professional counseling.

I remain on the counseling referral list maintained by Southeast Christian Church’s Care Ministry, but you do not need a referral from the church to schedule an appointment with me. You are welcome to contact me directly.

COUNSELING THAT TAKES YOUR FAITH SERIOUSLY

Christian clients often want help navigating life in ways that are consistent with their beliefs. You may want to understand how your faith applies to a difficult marriage, a parenting concern, an important decision, a painful loss, a season of change, or a pattern that continues to affect your emotional or relational health.

Christian counseling can provide a thoughtful place to explore:

• How to live a more God-centered life

• How to build a healthy, Christ-centered marriage

• How to approach parenting and family relationships in ways that reflect your Christian values

• Forgiveness, reconciliation, boundaries, and rebuilding trust

• The difference between forgiveness and reconciliation, particularly when a relationship has been harmful

• Communication, intimacy, conflict, and commitment within marriage

• Anxiety, stress, grief, trauma, disappointment, and loss

• Major life transitions, difficult decisions, purpose, and calling

• Guilt, shame, grace, identity, and self-worth

• Spiritual growth, questions, doubts, and faith struggles

• Church hurt or Christian teachings that may have been misunderstood or applied in harmful ways

• How to experience meaningful transformation mentally, relationally, emotionally, and spiritually

Christian counseling should not reduce complex problems to simplistic answers. Our work can draw upon both sound clinical understanding and the Christian beliefs and values that are important to you. Faith is thoughtfully integrated according to your preferences while the counseling remains grounded in appropriate, evidence-based clinical care.

WHEN THERAPY HASN’T WORKED THE WAY YOU HOPED

If you have tried therapy before and it did not lead to meaningful change, it may not be because therapy cannot help. The approach may not have addressed the underlying cognitive, emotional, relational, or nervous-system patterns driving your thoughts, feelings, and reactions.

My approach goes beyond insight alone. We work to understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, address them more deeply, and help you carry what you learn into your daily life, relationships, decisions, and spiritual growth.

EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACHES I USE

Depending on your needs and goals, counseling may include:

• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to identify and change unhelpful patterns

• Gottman Method couples therapy to strengthen communication, trust, and connection

• Attachment-based and trauma-informed care

• EMDR when appropriate

• Somatic therapy and nervous-system regulation

• A neuroscience-informed, whole-person approach

• Meaningful integration of Christian beliefs and values when requested

Your faith can become a meaningful part of the counseling process and the goals we establish together.

CHRISTIAN COUNSELING FOR INDIVIDUALS

For clients seeking Christian individual counseling in Louisville, I bring more than 30 years of clinical experience, including 17 years in Southeast Christian Church’s Counseling Ministry. My approach combines evidence-based therapy with an understanding of how faith can shape identity, relationships, decisions, suffering, forgiveness, and personal growth.

Whether you are navigating a life transition, managing stress or anxiety, seeking healthier relationships, facing a spiritual struggle, or wanting to grow, your faith will be taken seriously and, when requested, meaningfully incorporated into our work. Counseling is tailored to your needs and can help you better understand yourself, change patterns that are no longer serving you, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.

CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE AND COUPLES COUNSELING

I provide personalized Christian marriage and couples counseling in Louisville that integrates the Gottman Method with each couple’s unique history, needs, values, and goals.

For Christian couples, faith can be meaningfully incorporated as we work to improve communication, navigate conflict and life transitions, rebuild trust, deepen emotional and physical intimacy, and create healthier relationship patterns. Counseling may also explore how commitment, forgiveness, grace, shared beliefs, and spiritual values influence your marriage.

Marriage counseling is not only for couples in crisis. Some couples seek counseling because they feel disconnected or continue having the same conflicts. Others want to strengthen an already meaningful relationship and become more intentional about how they grow together.

INFIDELITY AND BETRAYAL RECOVERY

I also specialize in helping individuals and couples heal following infidelity and betrayal. Counseling is structured and tailored to help you understand what happened, stabilize the immediate crisis, determine what healing requires, and move forward with greater clarity and direction.

For couples who choose to work toward reconciliation, counseling can help them rebuild emotional safety, trust, communication, and intimacy. Individual counseling is also available for those navigating betrayal, uncertainty, grief, or decisions about the future of the relationship.
