Online Counseling for Naples & Fort Myers, FL
Southwest Florida is a place people come to start fresh — whether that means retiring after decades of hard work, escaping harsh Midwestern winters as a snowbird, or building a new chapter in one of the most beautiful regions in the country. But transitions, even welcome ones, bring their own emotional challenges. Adjusting to retirement, navigating a marriage after the kids leave home, or feeling isolated far from longtime friends and family — these are real struggles that deserve real support.
I am Carmen Frederick, a licensed Florida therapist offering secure online counseling to residents throughout Naples, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Estero, and the surrounding communities. With more than 30 years of experience helping people through life’s most difficult transitions, I provide the kind of deep, experienced guidance that makes a genuine difference — all from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
Telehealth Counseling Services for Southwest Florida
Through secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions, I offer comprehensive counseling tailored to the needs of Naples and Fort Myers residents:
- Couples and Marriage Counseling — Retirement changes the dynamic of every relationship. Suddenly spending all day together, losing the structure of work, or disagreeing about how to spend this new chapter can create real tension. Using the Gottman Method, I help couples reconnect, communicate more effectively, and build a relationship that thrives in this new season of life.
- Life Transition Therapy — Moving to Southwest Florida, retiring, becoming empty nesters, losing a spouse — each of these transitions carries grief, uncertainty, and opportunity. I help you process the emotions and find your footing.
- Anxiety Therapy — Anxiety does not retire when you do. Health concerns, financial worries, family dynamics, and the stress of building a social life in a new place can all fuel anxious thoughts. I use evidence-based approaches to help you find peace.
- Depression Counseling — Isolation is a silent epidemic in retirement communities. If you are finding that paradise does not feel the way you expected, or if grief and loneliness have settled in, therapy can help you reconnect with joy and purpose.
- Faith-Integrated Counseling — Many of my clients in Southwest Florida value their faith deeply. I offer therapy that integrates Christian principles with proven clinical techniques, honoring both your spiritual life and your mental health.
- Women’s Issues — From identity shifts after retirement to caregiving stress for aging parents, women in the Naples and Fort Myers area face unique pressures. I create a compassionate space to address these concerns.
About Carmen Frederick, Your Licensed Florida Counselor
I have been a practicing counselor for over 30 years. For 17 of those years, I served at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, working with thousands of individuals and couples through every kind of life challenge. That deep well of experience is what I bring to every telehealth session with my Florida clients.
I am Gottman Method certified, which means I use one of the most researched and effective approaches to couples therapy available today. I hold active counseling licenses in Florida, Kentucky, and Indiana, and I specialize in couples and marriage counseling, anxiety and depression, faith-integrated therapy, life transitions, infidelity recovery, women’s issues, and somatic therapy.
Though I work from my Louisville office, telehealth allows me to serve you just as effectively as if we were sitting across from each other. Learn more about my background here.
How Online Therapy Works for Naples & Fort Myers Clients
If you have never tried online counseling before, you may be surprised at how natural and comfortable it feels. Here is how it works:
- Reach Out — Contact me through my website or call to schedule your first session. I offer flexible scheduling, including times that work for snowbirds who split their year between states.
- Connect Securely — All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a private space. I use a HIPAA-compliant video platform that ensures your conversations remain completely confidential.
- Engage in Meaningful Therapy — Our sessions are the same length and depth as in-person appointments. You will receive the same quality of care, clinical attention, and personalized treatment planning.
- Stay Consistent — One of the biggest advantages of telehealth for Southwest Florida residents is consistency. Whether you are at your Naples condo, visiting family up north (in a state where I am licensed), or recovering from a procedure, you can keep your therapy going without interruption.
Why Naples & Fort Myers Residents Choose Carmen
Southwest Florida has a wonderful quality of life, but accessing quality mental health care can be challenging. Wait times for therapists in the Naples-Fort Myers area are often weeks or months long, and finding someone who specializes in the issues that matter most to you — relationships in transition, retirement adjustment, faith-based counseling — narrows the field even further.
That is where I come in. With three decades of clinical experience and deep expertise in the very issues that Southwest Florida residents face most, I offer something rare: immediate availability, specialized care, and the genuine warmth that comes from a therapist who has dedicated her entire career to helping people heal.
My clients in this area often tell me how much they appreciate having a therapist who understands the emotional landscape of retirement, relocation, and reinvention. I get it — because I have walked alongside thousands of people through exactly these kinds of transitions.
Insurance & Rates
I am committed to making quality therapy accessible. I offer competitive session rates and can provide superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. Many of my clients find that their insurance plans cover a significant portion of the cost. Visit my rates and insurance page for full details.
Frequently Asked Questions
I split my time between Florida and another state. Can I still work with you?
Absolutely — as long as you are physically located in a state where I hold an active license during our sessions. I am licensed in Florida, Kentucky, and Indiana. If you winter in Naples and summer in the Midwest, we can often continue our work year-round. We will discuss the details during our initial conversation.
Is telehealth a good fit for older adults who are not tech-savvy?
Yes. The technology is simpler than you might think — if you can make a video call to your grandchildren, you can do a telehealth session. I walk every new client through the setup process step by step, and my platform is designed to be user-friendly. Most clients are comfortable within their first session.
What if my spouse is reluctant to try couples counseling?
This is very common, especially during retirement transitions. I find that the convenience of online sessions often makes a reluctant partner more willing to try. There is no driving to an office, no sitting in a waiting room. I also welcome you to start with individual sessions while your spouse considers joining — there is no pressure, just support.
