Individual therapy for clarity, resilience, and meaningful personal growth
Many people seek individual therapy not because something is “wrong,” but because something feels off, heavy, or harder than it should be. You may be functioning well in daily life while feeling emotionally stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about how to move forward.
Individual therapy provides a supportive, confidential space to better understand yourself, address patterns that no longer serve you, and develop healthier ways of coping, relating, and living.
I offer individual therapy with over 30 years of clinical experience, working with adults navigating anxiety, stress, depression, relationship concerns, and major life transitions.
Why people seek individual therapy
Individuals come to therapy for many reasons, including:
- Feeling anxious, stressed, or emotionally overwhelmed
- Experiencing sadness, depression, trauma, discouragement, or emotional fatigue
- Working through relationship concerns or boundaries
- Navigating major life transitions or difficult decisions
- Wanting greater self-understanding and emotional balance
Some people come to therapy during challenging seasons, while others come proactively to strengthen emotional health and resilience.
What individual therapy looks like in my practice
My approach to individual therapy is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in evidence-based care. Therapy is tailored to your goals, pace, and needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all model.
Individual therapy may include:
- Identifying thought patterns that contribute to stress or emotional distress (CBT)
- Exploring attachment patterns and relationship dynamics
- Integrating neuroscience-informed care to better understand emotional responses
- Using somatic approaches to address how stress and emotion are held in the body
- Developing practical coping, regulation, and resilience skills
I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment-based work, somatic practices, and neuroscience-informed care to support lasting, meaningful change.
Faith-informed counseling (available if desired)
I offer faith-informed counseling for individuals who want their Christian faith thoughtfully integrated into the therapeutic process, while remaining grounded in professional, evidence-based clinical care.
I bring particular depth to this work through my experience of spending 17 years serving in the counseling ministry of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville. During that time, I worked extensively with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, family-of-origin dynamics, and major life transitions within a faith context.
This experience informs my work with clients for whom faith and personal values are an important part of life, while remaining grounded in professional clinical care. Faith is never assumed or required in therapy, and many clients prefer a more neutral, clinical approach.
Who individual therapy works best for
Individual therapy is often a good fit for people who:
- Want greater emotional clarity and balance
- Are open to reflecting on patterns and experiences
- Value practical tools alongside insight
- Desire meaningful, sustainable change
If you are unsure whether therapy is right for you, a brief consultation can help you decide.
