Professional counseling that thoughtfully integrates Christian faith with evidence-based care
Christian counseling is an option for individuals and couples who want their faith to be meaningfully integrated into the counseling process. Some clients seek counseling specifically from a Christian perspective, while others prefer to work with a therapist who understands Christian values and the role faith can play in life, relationships, and decision-making.
I offer Christian counseling that is grounded in sound clinical practice while remaining respectful of spiritual beliefs, questions, and values. Faith is incorporated intentionally and professionally—never assumed, pressured, or required.
My experience with Christian counseling
I bring particular depth to Christian counseling through my experience of spending 17 years serving in the counseling ministry of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville. During that time, I worked extensively with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, infidelity, family-of-origin concerns, and major life transitions within a faith context.
This experience has shaped my understanding of the diverse ways people relate to faith—whether it is a central source of strength, something being questioned or redefined, or simply an important part of personal values and identity.
What Christian counseling looks like in my practice
Christian counseling in my practice is integrative and evidence-based. Faith is incorporated in a way that aligns with your preferences and goals rather than following a predetermined model.
Depending on your needs, Christian counseling may include:
- Integrating faith and values into decision-making and life transitions
- Exploring how spiritual beliefs influence emotional and relational patterns
- Addressing anxiety, depression, stress, or relationship concerns from a faith-aware perspective
- Incorporating prayer, Scripture, or spiritual reflection when requested
- Using evidence-based therapeutic approaches alongside faith-informed discussion
Clinical approaches commonly integrated include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment-based therapy, neuroscience-informed care, and somatic approaches.
Who Christian counseling may be helpful for
Christian counseling may be a good fit for individuals or couples who:
- Want faith to be thoughtfully integrated into therapy
- Are seeking counseling aligned with Christian values
- Desire professional, evidence-based care that respects spirituality
- Are navigating emotional, relational, or life-transition challenges
- Want space to explore faith-related questions or tensions
